Guidelines for Certification Applicants
Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy
CPC is committed to protect your freedom of information, privacy, and confidentiality. We comply with the provincial Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).
As a CPC Certification Applicant, you have the right to:
- Be informed of your rights and responsibilities as an applicant and exam taker.
- Be treated with courtesy, respect, and impartiality.
- Be tested with measures that meet professional standards.
- Have access to the outline of the testing purpose and process prior to testing. This outline can be found on the CPC website.
- Know in advance of testing when the test will be administered, when the test results will be available to you, and if you will be expected to pay a fee for re-testing. This outline can be found on the CPC website.
- Know in advance of testing whether any accommodations may be available to you if you have a disability or difficulty in comprehending the language of the test.
- Have your test administered and your test results interpreted by appropriately trained individuals who follow professional codes of ethics.
- Receive a written mark and an oral debrief of your results within one month of your exam. (Please note that your exam results will be kept on file for 3 months. After that, the exam itself will be removed from our systems.)
- Have your test results kept confidential to the extent allowed by law.

As a CPC Certification Applicant, you have the responsibility to:
- Read and/or listen to your rights and responsibilities as an applicant and exam taker.
- Treat others with courtesy and respect during the testing process.
- Ask questions prior to testing if you are uncertain about the purpose and/or process.
- Study your certification manual and testing instructions in detail prior to your challenge exam.
- Inform CPC in advance of testing if you wish to receive a testing accommodation.
- Complete your on-line Certification Challenge Exam on your scheduled date and time.
- Follow the test instructions and represent yourself honestly during the testing.
- Work independently to complete the exam without outside assistance.
- Keep your exam private and confidential; you will not share your challenge exam with anyone.
- Be familiar with and accept the consequences of not taking the test, should you choose not to take the test.
- Inform your CPC administrator if you believe that testing conditions affected your results.
- Ask about the confidentiality of your test results, if this aspect concerns you.
- Present concerns about the testing process or results in a timely, respectful way, if you have any.
